BCEC Gets a New Smart Kiosk to Foster Community Engagement, Mobility & Wayfinding

The MCCA has partnered with Boston-based CIVIQ Smartscapes to deploy a smart kiosk with touch screen outside the Summer Street entrance to the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center (BCEC). More than 225,000 attendees, pedestrians and vehicles travel in front of the BCEC on Summer Street each day.

The WayPoint kiosk was installed in November and features a dual 55” HD display and charging USB ports. Both sides of the kiosk are capable of running full-motion video and can be configured to display a combination of interactive content on the bottom with promotions on the top or full-screen advertising.

The kiosk is also fully ADA compliant and user-friendly.

Through the kiosk users can access public transit schedules and maps, nearby points of interest, city services, as well as food & drink options within 20 miles of the BCEC. The device also has a built-in camera and even offers selfie functionality with custom selfie templates.

The kiosk will soon be available to meeting planners wanting to display tailor-made event content and/or sponsor information during their BCEC events as part of the BCEC Media & Sponsorship package.
