Boston Children’s Hospital was named Best Children’s Hospital in the most recent U.S. News & World Report ranking highlighting the best pediatric hospitals in the nation. The renowned Boston institution has been at the top of the list since 2014.
Boston Children’s Hospital also earned the number one spot in the publication’s Honor Roll, which features the 10 hospitals that “deliver exceptionally high-quality care across multiple specialties,” U.S. News said in a statement. The pediatric ranking is based on measurements such as patient safety, infection prevention, and adequacy of nurse staffing. In addition, part of each hospital’s score is derived from surveys of more than 11,000 pediatric specialists who are asked where they would send the sickest children in their specialty.
Boston Children’s Hospital ranked number one in five out of the ten specialties evaluated by U.S. News & World Report: cancer, nephrology, neurology & neurosurgery, orthopedics, and urology.
Boston is one of the leading healthcare centers in the world and is home to some of the best hospitals in the nation, like Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH). Mass General has been consistently ranked among the top five hospitals in the United States by U.S. News & World Report ever since the rankings began. The hospital is recognized as #4 out of nearly 5,000 hospitals considered by the publication and is also #4 on the Honor Roll as part of the 20 highest performing establishments. MGH ranks #2 for the psychiatry and rehabilitation specialties, as well #3 for diabetes & endocrinology, and #4 for ophthalmology and pulmonology & lung surgery.
The Greater Boston Area is also home to the top medical school in the U.S.: Harvard Medical School. And Harvard University ranks as the best medical school for research, obstetrics and gynecology, psychiatry, and radiology programs, and #2 for anesthesiology, internal medicine, and pediatrics.
