Last week the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center (BCEC) and the Hynes Convention Center joined a campaign created by #WeMakeEvents North America in support of the live events industry.
“The MCCA operates the largest events venue in New England, the BCEC, and we are proud to participate in the #RedAlertRESTART campaign to raise awareness of the devastating impact the pandemic has had on our industry and workforce,” said David Gibbons, MCCA Executive Director.
Special thanks to Jimmy Callanan, his team at JCalPro and the IATSE Local 11 workers who designed and constructed the incredible displays at the MCCA’s Boston venues. For this massive project they used 200’ of of truss, 140’ of LED strip, 36 moving lights, 100 battery powered LED fixtures, 50 conventional lighting fixtures, and around 1500’ of cable
Both convention centers lit up in red along with more than 2,000 performance venues, iconic structures, and residences in over 75 cities and towns across the United States to raise public and media awareness of the impact of COVID-19 on live events.
