Congratulations to Boston’s 2018 Record Breakers!

World-class convention facilities, award-winning services, rich history, and exceptional accessibility make Boston the perfect event destination and create the ideal environment for record-breaking programs. Last year, the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center and the Hynes Convention Center welcomed 309 events of which the most represented groups were high tech (54 events), medical/health care/pharmaceuticals (55 events), and education (24 events).

With 2019 underway, we want to take the opportunity to celebrate a few of our customers who achieved record-breaking events in Boston in 2018.

INBOUND
Boston Convention & Exhibition Center
INBOUND is hosted by HubSpot, Inc., and it brings together a community of marketing and sales professionals to learn, get inspired, and grow better together. The 2018 event featured four days of inspiring talks from speakers like Beth Comstock, Shonda Rhimes, and Deepak Chopra, plus educational breakout sessions led by innovative marketing, sales, and customer success practitioners.
INBOUND 2018 attracted over 24,000 attendees from more than 110 countries.

BIO 2018
Boston Convention & Exhibition Center
In June, the Biotechnology Innovation Organization (BIO) celebrated its 25th anniversary and held its annual BIO International Convention (BIO 2018) at the BCEC. The Convention drew over 18,000 biotechnology industry leaders – the most in the last ten years – from 49 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and over 67 countries. The event also achieved a Guinness World Record for “Largest Business Partnering Event” - hosting 46,916 partnering meetings (a 13% increase over 2017) facilitated by BIO’s One-on-one Partnering™ system.

More than 6,000 technologists, developers, and industry evangelists from over 40 countries gathered for the 2018 LiveWorx event to discuss, debate, exchange, and explore the opportunities being created by the convergence of the physical and digital worlds. Content spanned disruptive technologies and topics, including augmented reality (AR) / virtual reality (VR), IoT, Industrie 4.0, product design, robotics, AI, data security, and blockchain.

Biotech Week Boston

Biotech Week Boston is dedicated to accelerating the business of biotechnology through new ideas, science, technology and partnerships to make a positive impact on patient health. This unique festival of events includes scientific and business conferences, training courses, structured partnering, keynotes, CEO meetings, an awards party, a start-up competition, and a little bit of rock and roll.

Gerontological Society of America Annual Scientific Meeting

The Gerontological Society of America (GSA) is the oldest and largest interdisciplinary scientific organization devoted to the advancement of gerontological research, learning, and practice. Through its Annual Scientific Meeting, GSA offers nearly 4,000 international professionals in the field of aging the opportunity to learn the latest trends and development from industry leaders, build strategic partnerships to address aging challenges, and network with peers.

American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists Annual Scientific & Clinical Congress

The AACE Annual Scientific & Clinical Congress is one of the most important gatherings of clinical endocrinologists and other health care professionals who come together in their quest to learn more about the latest developments, research, devices and translational therapies needed to care for patients with diabetes, thyroid dysfunction, osteoporosis, obesity and other metabolic conditions.

American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society Annual Meeting

The American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society® (AOFAS) mobilizes the dynamic community of foot and ankle orthopaedic specialists to improve patient care through education, research, and advocacy.
In 2018, the global foot and ankle community came together in historic Boston to connect, share groundbreaking research, and exchange ideas. With more than 1,100 attendees and 85 exhibiting companies, it was their biggest meeting yet.

MathWorks Sales Kick-Off 2018

Mizuno Boston Volleyball Festival

The Mizuno Boston Volleyball Festival is the 12th qualifier for the National Championships and draws about 20,000 spectators over two days. The festival features 90+ volleyball courts and over 7,000 players from more than 550 junior club teams and 100 adult teams.

TIDES is the world’s largest meeting to accelerate oligonucleotide and peptide products from early discovery to late-stage development and commercialization.

PAX East
Boston Convention & Exhibition Center
PAX is a series of gaming conventions held in Seattle, Boston, Melbourne, Philadelphia, and San Antonio, and is dedicated to supporting and celebrating video and tabletop gaming. Boston has hosted PAX East since its launch in 2010. Each spring, tens of thousands of attendees converge at the BCEC to enjoy the expo floor halls filled with booths from major game publishers and independent developers, panels from video game industry insiders, game culture-inspired concerts, LAN parties, tabletop gaming, competitions and much more. In 2018, the event expanded from its three-day schedule to a four-days show to accommodate the steadily growing crowds.
