The Massachusetts Convention Center Authority (MCCA) announced Monday a new five-year food and beverage service agreement for The Lawn on D Powered by Citizens Bank that will greatly expand the customer experience. Rebel Restaurants, an affiliate of The Cronin Group was awarded the rights for the food and beverage service.
David Gibbons, Executive Director of the MCCA, stated “This will allow the MCCA to offer more food options to both our corporate customers and to our publicly programmed events. This improved service will be available for both our main pavilion and our new corporate pavilion. We can now do events ranging from casual to black-tie and our corporate customers will now be able to have customized food menus to meet their special needs.”
“Rebel Restaurants is the perfect partner for the MCCA and is making a strong commitment to making The Lawn on D more vibrant and oriented towards a great customer experience at all times,” added Gibbons. In addition to the expanded dining, menus, and cuisines, Rebel agreed to help provide additional live entertainment options plus expand awareness and use of The Lawn through promotions at its dozen restaurants, including Temazcal, Remy’s, The Playwright, Whiskey Priest, Tony C’s and Tia’s.
“Having served Boston and the South Boston community for over 20 years, and owning many restaurants and a catering company in the neighborhood, we feel that we are the perfect fit to provide first-rate food, beverage, and service that will make the Lawn on D even better,” said Jon Cronin, President of Rebel Restaurants. “I love the Lawn on D, and with our access to over 1,000 dedicated, local employees in the immediate area we can give the MCCA great flexibility and ensure more fun and smoothly run events with a wide variety of dining options to satisfy any taste.”

Its catering affiliate, Seaport Catering, has for years handled many of the large events around the Innovation District including during the Tall Ships visit and Seafood Festival.
