This month, PCMA Convene released its annual Best in Show list, to celebrate the best event venues, ideas, and experiences from all over the world.
The Boston Convention & Exhibition Center (BCEC) was featured in the “Insanely Innovative Meeting Space” category for its non-traditional use of an undeveloped lot adjacent to the facility, converting it into what is now known as The Lawn On D.
The Lawn On D is a 2.7-acre event space, designed for both public and private events and featuring a colorful collection of public seating and lounge chairs, assorted lawn games such as bocce, JENGA®, and ping-pong, free Wi-Fi, and, of course, its signature glowing swing set, Swing Time.
According to Selvis Morales, an independent event planner based in Chicago, “It helps organizers use a standard convention center in an unconventional way by offering outdoor breaks with neon swings, tents, and turf to give attendees a good mental break from back-to-back indoor sessions.”
The Lawn On D boasts two pavilions and an open lawn area that can accommodate a wide variety of events, including networking receptions, team building events, company outings, fitness events, performances and more:
The Pavilion On D is the larger tent space, located on the main Lawn next to Swing Time and offering:
The Signature Pavilion is a more intimate space with a designated drop-off and entrance, which offers:
The pavilions can be rented separately or as part of larger events taking place at the BCEC.
