The BCEC & The Hynes Lift All Covid-Related Restrictions

Written by Signature Boston | Mar 10, 2022 2:00:00 PM

Boston Mayor Michelle Wu and the Boston Board of Health voted last week to end the City of Boston indoor mask mandate effective Saturday, March 5. This news comes following the latest guidance issued by the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) deeming every Massachusetts county to have low or medium levels of COVID-19, essentially meaning most people do not need to wear masks indoors.

As of March 5, facial coverings are optional at the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center (BCEC) and the Hynes Convention Center. Employees and visitors to our facilities will no longer be required to wear facial coverings, but we will continue to have masks available upon entry for anyone who chooses to wear one. Masks are still recommended for people at high risk for serious illness.

In addition, on February 18, Mayor Wu lifted the proof-of-vaccination requirement for indoor dining, gyms, and entertainment venues thanks to declining COVID-19 metrics and promising public health data.

“This news highlights how much progress we’ve made in our fight against COVID-19 thanks to vaccines & boosters — which have always been our most effective weapon against the pandemic.”, said the Mayor in a statement for the Boston Globe

Boston has among the highest vaccination rates in the country with 72% of city residents fully vaccinated – a milestone that makes our city one of the safest places for your event attendees to gather.

The Most Vaccinated US States
(% of population fully vaccinated)

  1. Rhode Island (80.7%)
  2. Vermont (80.1%)
  3. Maine (78.3%)
  4. Connecticut (77.8%)
  5. Massachusetts (77.6%)
