Boston has added two new international destinations to its schedule, bringing the total nonstop routes served at Boston Logan International Airport to 130 (75 domestic, 55 international). Logan Airport has doubled the number of international nonstop destinations during the past 10 years and served 6.5 million international travelers last year (and 36 million overall travelers).
Beginning on July 1, 2018, LATAM Airlines will begin 4x/week nonstop service between Boston and Sao Paulo, Brazil. LATAM’s Sao Paulo Guarulhos hub offers 127 daily departures to 37 destinations. The largest airline group in South America, LATAM has 322 aircraft offering over 1,300 daily departures to 140 destinations in 25 countries. Additionally, LATAM has an interairline marketing relationship with jetBlue.
Nonstop service to Sao Paulo, Brazil had been one of the Logan Airport’s top international route targets. The new route has an estimated annual economic impact to the Boston region of $139 million.
New, long-haul budget airline LEVEL will launch a new route to Barcelona on March 28, 2018. Flights will operate up to 3x/week during the summer season. LEVEL was launched by British Airways’ parent company and currently only goes to (or has plans to go to) Oakland, Los Angeles, Newark, and Boston. Both Boston and Los Angeles will only offer seasonal service at this time.
